OPI Texas: Totally Fort Worth It & I Vant To Be A-Lone Star

First I have the two Greys to show you from OPI's Texas collection. Both of them are such great colours. I could not find fault with either.
Totally Fort Worth It:
It doesn't look as cool on the nail as it does in the bottle, until you're under artificial light.

In the sunlight Fort Worth looks like a... soft silver? Is that possible? It gets quite reflective, but not as much as a chrome polish. OPI calls this a lavender.... Erm...

Sadly though all of the pink shimmer and glitter vanishes in natural light. Even in the shade outside it hides. It looks really beautiful inside though.

I used three coats here, but two could easily do the trick. I managed to ding this manicure so I just wanted to even it out.

I Vant To Be A-Lone Star:
I really wanted to buy this one when I first saw the collection, but I was limited to two only. I even saw a girl wearing this shade on the bus and it just looked so delicate on her, I had to get it!

Luckily mum had bought a few Texans and this was one of them, she wasn't too keen on it as it is quite close to Essie's Sag Harbor. Sag Harbor is just a touch darker, but otherwise, definitely sisters.

You only need two coats with A-Lone Star as well. Wonderful coverage.

I am usually not too fussed on the frost finish, but when it's a dove grey, how can one resist?

Overall I am so pleased with these two colours, very cute and a nice change for Spring/Summer.

MAC Mehr

Another lip post :)

This is Mehr from MAC's Mickey Contractor collection that was released a couple of weeks ago. I had high hopes for Gulabi too, but it didn't wow me as much as Mehr.

Mehr is a really pretty natural looking pink. It is quite opaque once you put it on. I always like to wear a basic balm underneath as it is a Matte lipstick, so it can dry you out or make your lips look dry.

It looks really great with the lipglass Lust. Lust is sort of like the glossy version.

MAC Patisserie & Revlon Deep Spice

It's been a while since I have posted something make-up related, but my skin is all clear now, I shudder every time I see my old photos. It's quite amazing how acne can affect you so much.

This combo is a base of MAC Patisserie lipstick and Revlon's Deep Spice lip gloss over the top. I have been looking for something like this for awhile now and am quite happy with it :)

Also, YAY! We've hit the 1000 follower mark!

A Quick Look At: OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-y & Suzi Loves Cowboys

I had completely forgotten that the Texas collection was released earlier this week, until my mum rang me today and asked what I thought of them. I got ready as fast as I could and went running down to the nearest store, they still had the Swiss collection, boring, tried the next store and they had loads of the new ones!

They also only had one Texas pamphlet out, I hope I was allowed to take that.

My boyfriend helped me pick out two colours as I recently have been offered a place in a Interior Design course! I am so excited about it because I never received university entrance from school, so I thought my diploma/bachelor study days were doomed. It starts in two weeks, can't wait to go stationery shopping! What should I wear on my nails?! :O

Back to the topic, I really love the look of the Texas colours. It was so hard just to choose two. I really like the look of I Vant To Be A-Lone Star but I was only limited to picking two. By chance, my mum had picked up this shade and doesn't really want it as she thinks it is too close to Essie's Sag Harbor for her to own both.

I haven't tried them yet as I've been pretty busy. Suzi Loves Cowboys is a delectable chocolate brown and Do You Think I'm Tex-y is a gorgeous blue-toned fuchsia jelly. I really love the names in this collection! Especially Houston We Have a Purple.

I will have swatches up of these very shortly along with a sketch that this collection inspired me to draw. :)

NOTE: I used the flash here, so the colours look lighter and brighter than they really are. Tex-y almost looks radioactive here, it does not in real life.

Can You Spot Your Nails?

Hi guys,

I've been having a bit of trouble with this page on Facebook. It's a New Zealand based one but she is posting photos from all over.

I came across it as it advertised on the side of Facebook, of course it peaked my interest! But my heart quickly sank after discovering a few of my photos on there as well as others' photos. She has even copied bits of the blog posts they came from!

This makes me feel so sad because she doesn't state where they come from and people are thinking that these are all hers, of course she is letting them know any different *eye roll*. What's upsetting me more is that she is using all of these to promote her website.

I left a comment on her page saying I wasn't too happy that she was posting these photos and of course she deleted my comment and blocked me from commenting further.

People like this really bug me. Is it that hard to take your own photos?

Please let her know if she has your photos on there! Here is the link: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Do-you-Love-nail-polish/170272812983656

And if you do ever come across her website, you can get polishes for much cheaper elsewhere than what she is selling them for. Also when stores do the 3 for 2 deal, still cheaper than what she has them for.

UPDATE!
She sent me an email saying she is now labeling the photos and where they came from. While I am much happier now that she is doing that, I'm still upset that she blocked me from posting. I suppose it will be a never ending battle for us :(

Kiss Custom-Fit Nails

Seeing as my nails are in horrible condition right now, I thought I’d go for some glue-on nails. They always look nice and will let my real nails grow a little bit while wearing them.

The pack I got is from Kiss, it is called Custom-Fit, supposedly perfect for hard to fit nails. Retails for $23.99.

It’s sort of hard to tell what category your nails fall in to with these, they’ve got ones for people with really high arches or really flat arches. Mine I think are sort of in between but some are flatter than others, so I thought this pack would be good, as sometimes other false nails have to bend quite a bit to fit properly on mine.

Also you need to know if you have big, normal or petite nails. My nails are on the small size but they’re not quite as small as the petite sized packs. So there again you have to be quite careful with what pack you choose. I chose the ‘Real Short’ length and I just had a quick try with them now and they seem to be a really good size and fit.

Another thing to look at is colour. The basic ones are pink or natural coloured with white tips. The ones I got are a soft pink, but the colour didn’t really mean much to me as I’d be putting polish over the top.

Ok, enough of that! On to wearing the nails.

Honestly I have had so much fun wearing these, an instant mood booster! My nails are just the perfect length and the perfect shape, I am really happy with these.

I really like the thin tip, it's quite elegant looking and not so 'i'm wearing false nails', nails.

I had a few air bubbles underneath the nails, I don't think there is anything to fix that as my nails are quite flat and these arches are rounded.

I finally got bored of wearing pale pink nails and decided to put a polish on. I used my file on all of the nails first though, so the polish could have something to grab a hold of. I chose Mystery. I always want to wear this colour but because of something I did a long time ago (left it open overnight), I could never open the darn thing! So last night I held it under really hot water and then it finally let me unscrew the lid.

Through all of this I noticed that it actually has some navy sparkles in the mix with the gold.
