Gradient Tutorial Revisited!

To commemorate Nail Juice's most popular post over 3 years, the Gradient Tutorial, I thought it was time to update it :D

I will try to have something up by this weekend, so keep a look out!

Far out, look at those talons!

The Big 2-0

I was a little disheartened to post these due a comment that was made. I know my nails are short ugly but I am trying my hardest to get them longer. You'll just have to endure the ugliness until then!

These were my birthday nails. What I have on here is 3 layers of OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-y? and two layers of glitter, China Glaze's Glam. On the ring finger I used one coat of Solar Flare instead of a 2nd coat of Glam. I wish I had done this on every nail as the gold made the whole design feel warmer.

I just loved the way this looked. This weekend I tried OPI Big Hair...Big Nails with NFUOh 49 (plain red flakes) in place of the glitter layers. That was another really nice combo, it looked like fire!

I love how the jelly polish gives a wash of colour of the glitter.

Close up.

OPI Time-less is More

I'm surprised I haven't taken more photos of this one. Excuse the dry looking cuticles, it's just glue from the nails :)

Here we have OPI's Time-less is More. A sheer off-white. I'm not too sure if it is in the main line or not, I've seen it in some stores and not in others.

I really love the colour it gives but I think sometimes it takes a little bit too much effort to get it looking nice. The formula is on the goopy side of things, so it takes its time to dry and is a bit hard to control.

But you know, if you manage to master all of that, you get great coloured nails :D

OPI It's A Girl! UPDATED

I wasn't 'wowed' by this collection when I first saw it in stores, but I recently came across some pictures of It's A Girl and just had to try it!

The Pink collection wasn't released that long ago in stores really, but it is so hard to find them nowadays! I came across only one other It's A Girl polish out of all the stores I searched and my Mum bought that one as she fell in love with it too. Mum actually bought I Think In Pink and Isn't That Precious as well so I will show you those at some stage too.

It's A Girl is my absolute favourite OPI polish at the moment, I can't get enough of it. It's just one of those shades you've been after for a very long time and finally found it, you know?

It's quite a versatile polish, you can wear just one coat for a nice clean healthy nail look, two coats for a little bit more pink and three if the baby pink is what you're after.

Completely streak free which I think is the main factor here. The formula is just beautiful. It's A Girl is just one of those polishes that reminds you why we love polishes so. Love it!

It's A Girl is a very jelly/glassy looking polish. Two coats are shown here.

OPI Go Goth Halloween Set 2010 UPDATED

UPDATED: Here are each of the colours on the nail. The formula on these are all very nice. Have to be careful when applying Obscurity though, it can get streaky.

Here is just a quick look at the Go Goth collection! This collection came out for Halloween 2010. I'm really excited to see what they have in store for us this year!

Retails for $39.90, a bit of a rip off but I really loved these colours.

Sanguine is a beautiful dark red, plus I love saying it. Sanguine.

Nevermore is a very pretty navy with pink and purple sparkles.

Unripened is really nice! I really hope OPI brings this sort of shade into a normal collection.

In order above in outdoor lighting natural vs. flash: Ink, Obscurity, Sanguine, Unripened and Nevermore.

Here is Ink and Nevermore side by side. Can you spot the difference?

Did you pick this set up? Did you like them?

OPI I Think In Pink

OPI I Think In Pink is from the same collection as It's a Girl and Isn't It Precious recently featured.

Think in Pink is a bubblegum coloured pink, it has those yellow undertones but I think it is subtle enough to be a bit more flattering. I always find very yellow based pinks to look strange against my pink toned skin. A good example of that is I Believe in Amour, quite washed out in my photos though.

OPI Isn't That Precious?

OPI Isn't That Precious? is from a Pink collection that was released last year I believe. Along with I Think In Pink, It's A Girl! and Pink-a-doodle.

Precious is quite similar to It's A Girl but seems to have more 'pink' to it, it isn't as white.

It has that great jelly/sheer feel to it. A squishy pink, who doesn't love that?!

I used two coats here and felt it was sufficient. Just like It's A Girl, you can sort of use as many coats as you like. It has that great streak-free formula.
At one coat it gives you a nice jelly pink wash and coats two and three really just builds that colour up.

OPI Texas: Too Hot Pink To Hold 'Em & Do You Think I'm Tex-y?

I apologise for being away for so long! I am having the most hectic time at the moment. First off, my first assignment at Uni was to find a deeper meaning to five different walls. WALLS. That was a mission and a half!

I got help from my mum with that so I was staying with my family that weekend, and we have been training each day for the Round The Bays event. It's a 8km run or walk. After doing that for almost 2 hours, we get back to the car and it has been broken into! My backpack that had all my clothes (had gone on a big shopping spree the day before), wallet, phone, camera etc. in it, gone! My mum's bag was also taken. And the thieves have managed to spend about $1800 off her credit card! The idiots shopped in store though so they've been caught on security cameras.

It was strange though because my mums friend came with us and her bag was untouched in the front seat. Also the thieves were kind enough to leave me my wall assignment and a pair of jandals. They were in the back of the car. I just can't get my head around a person who sees a school bag and an old camping bag and thinks that there will be something valuable in there...

Apparently a couple of older ladies saw the whole thing, they said they even tried to take off with the car (they ended up taking someone elses) but these ladies thought they would report it to the police after they've gone to see the Round The Bays race! I mean, if you saw this from your house, wouldn't your first reaction be to ring the police?!

Just to top it all off I've managed to catch a cold in Summer. So sorry for the rant but I've been thinking about this whole situation non-stop for days. I just don't get how anyone can think it's ok to take someone else's treasured items like that. I am so sorry for the rant! I really just had to get it off my chest :)

Too Hot Pink To Hold 'Em

This is such a beautiful shade of watermelon crossed with strawberry. It looks like juice on your nails! I really love this one. It is definitely more red and yellow toned than Do You Think I'm Tex-y. Two coats as with all the other polishes in this collection.

Do You Think I'm Tex-y?

Seriously hard to choose a fave in this collection, but I think Texy has to be it! A beautiful blue toned fuchsia jelly. Still loving this jelly lot. Only two coats needed just like Hold 'Em :) I am trying to get Ya'll Come Back Ya Hear and Houston We Have a Purple.

Color Club: I Believe In Amour & Hot Couture

Here we have I Believe In Amour and Hot Couture from Color Club's Pardon My French collection.

I wasn't actually too fond of this one, I just can't get my head around bubblegum pinks. I don't know what it is, I just don't like them.

My photos here are in direct sunlight so the colour is washed out a little bit. I think the last photo shows it's true colour most.

The formula, not to fussed, usually Color Clubs are great but for me this polish was a little bit streaky. So it didn't really give me a nice finish. Maybe it was the base coat I used? Not really too sure. I used three coats here.

I Believe In Amour is definitely a yellow toned pink creme.

Hot Couture is a cherry pink glitter. It doesn't add to much of a tint to other colours so it is quite good for layering. As with pretty much all glitters, you can use as many layers as you like.

OPI Texas: Big Hair...Big Nails & Guy Meets Gal-Veston

My goodness it's March already! That means I am almost 20! I remember when I mentioned that I turned 18 on NJ.... It's kind of hard to comprehend that NJ has been around that long! :O....

The corals in this collection are amazing! Mum had bought both of the corals; Big Hair...Big Nails and Guy Meets Gal-Veston. She only ended up keeping Gal-veston though as Big Hair has more of an orange tone, and that didn't suit her as nicely as the redder more watermelony tones in Gal-veston.

My sister ended up getting Big Hair

Big Hair... Big Nails:
My sister ended up getting this one from my mum as it is the orange-r one out of the two. It looks really nice on her too, like watermelon crossed with strawberry juice. It's sort of a jelly version of Cajun Shrimp, it has that nice punch to it.

So as with all the jellies in the Texas collection, two coats are sufficient and you will still see your nail lines. On a side note, how do you get/have "big nails"? The mind boggles.

Guy Meets Gal-Veston:
This is the redder one of the two corals, even though it is really easy to get these two mixed up. They are pretty close. I don't know why OPI released two coral jellies and two pink jellies. Only minor differences.

Not really much to say about Gal-Veston other than it's just as beautiful as all the other jellies in the collection. I am still really happy with the Texas lot. They have the best formula I have come across yet.

The two compared side by side:
Here you can see how Big Hair is more orange and Gal-Veston more red.
