Bloggy Weekends: The Laquerologist

Welcome to Sunday's Bloggy, The Lacquerologist.

She has a tonne of swatches and adorable nail art. I think it was this one below that caught my attention, pink hearts and dots over grey polish.

Nail Art: Pastel Gradient

This was a super cute gradient I did awhile back! Colours used were Misa Pinky Promise and Makeup Store's Young. The method I used to create this gradient was to use a sponge. I painted a strip of each colour on the sponge and then dabbed it along the edge of my nails to blend them together.

BL Bumster vs. SOPI Neutral Beauty

To follow on from yesterday's post of Neutral Beauty, today I have a comparison against Butter London's Bumster! Two coats of each, both fantastic formula.

See what I mean about having just the little bit more contrast? While both colours are beautiful on their own, I much prefer Bumster against my skintone.

SOPI Neutral Beauty

This is Sephora by OPI's Neutral Beauty. It is a yellow/mustard toned nude creme. Two coats here, impeccable formula. I however feel that it would suit someone who would have greater contrast between this shade and their skin colour. This is my 'tan' lol!

Treatment Tuesdays! Color Club Vivid Top Coat

Color Club has this amazing top coat called Vivid! What does it do? Well, as you can see, Vivid has a blue tint to it. What does that do? The blue tint when layered over your manicure, will make it appear more vibrant! So for those neons that aren't quite neon enough, or maybe even just for those colours you want to make pop a little bit.

BPS Giveaway on Nailed it NZ!

OPI Royal Rajah Ruby - India 2008

Royal Rajah Ruby is from one of my favourite OPI collections, India 2008. Although I think Raj is a part of the normal collection these days.

Me and Raj have had our ups and downs. Ya see, she only looks like this in full sunlight. You know what season it is? Winter. So for the brief five seconds that the sun is out are when I can enjoy that gorgeous shimmer.
This is two coats shown here. Really great coverage and the polish isn't watery.

OPI Solitaire - Bond Girls Liquid Sand

The elusive Solitaire from OPI's Bond Girls collection! I have been on the hunt for Solitaire since before she was released. I never had the cash for her, but once I did, she was nowhere to be found! Luckily I have some amazing friends who so dearly helped me out.
Two coats is enough to get full sandy coverage. What I love about the Liquid Sands is that you can just add another coat on Day 3 and it looks brand spankin' new. The 2yr olds just adored this one, they loved the texture to it!
Ain't she beautiful? I'm not sure how long Solitaire is going to be around, but you better snap one up before she's gone forever!

Tough As Nails: Magdalene's Laundry Service

Today I have Tough As Nails Lacquer's Magdalene's Laundry Service to show you from The Dregs collection!

MLS is a sweet milky mauve with shimmer and different sized pink glitters, as well as some silver glitters. In the pics I have her labelled as 'Magdalena' and not 'Magdalene', my apologies!

Shown here are two coats of MLS over Misa's Someone Like You.

You can find the smaller size of Magdalene's Laundry Service here, and the full size here.

Star Kin: Whale Farts

*wipes up your drool* How beautiful was that? What WAS that? That my friend, was Whale Farts created by Star Kin.

For my manicure with Whale Farts, I layered it over OPI DS Fantasy for a deep shimmery ocean base.
As soon as I opened up my mail from Star Kin my partner said "YOU HAVE TO PUT THIS ONE ON RIGHT NOW!", but I already had a stunning mani on and can't change until it chipped. Well, it finally chipped!

I do have to admit that I am new to using these types of polishes, glittery ones I mean. So if you have any advice on how to fish the wonderful glitters out, please share with us! I feel like I didn't show Whale Farts at her best due to my lack of knowledge. However, my 2yr olds loved looking at the glitter and labelling the colours they could see.
