NFUOh 086

I've got quite a few of these NFUOh posts lined up for you. I think these glass fleck polishes get forgotten about because the flakie polishes get all the attention. NFUOh really do have a great line of polishes.

In this NFUOh series I've found 3 polishes that I think it'd look nice over and I'll be wearing it by itself on the pinky.

1 coat L-R: 086, Australis Limited Edition 2, China Glaze Electric Pineapple, OPI Roadhouse Blues

My Mum actually bought this polish. I thought she was mad because I didn't think it looked that pretty. What's that old saying? Don't judge a book by it's cover? In this case it's don't judge a polish by it's sparkles.

Clearly mum saw the potential! I absolutely love 086 over the navy creme! You get to see all of the different colours that 086 is made up of; green, gold, I think there's even a bit of blue in there. Absolute stunner.

Here we step it up to two coats. 086 is great for livening up those lime and chartreuse cremes. Still loving it over the navy too.

2 coats L-R: 086, Australis Limited Edition 2, China Glaze Electric Pineapple, OPI Roadhouse Blues

Here's a close-up. 086 by itself really doesn't look like much but when you throw it on top of another colour, the magic begins.

Feel free to enlarge any of these photos to see the detail more clearly.

Stay tuned for the rest of the NFUOhs!

China Glaze Life Preserver

Today I've got China Glaze's Life Preserver to show you! LP is from the Anchors Away collection released earlier this year.

This photographed really bright for some reason. I tried to bring it down to how muted it really is. It's a great shade for Summer and Spring.

I had no complaints with the formula, really nice typical China Glaze. Two coats shown here.

I also have Ahoy to show you but I haven't tried it yet! It looks so pretty in the bottle though. I'll make it my next manicure!

I'm on holidays soon, so I'll have heaps to show you shortly!

Glitter Gal Not Another Red

Today I have to show you is Glitter Gal's Not Another Red!

I love the name of this one. Because, do we really need another red? No, of course we don't, but we do however need this red.

Look at that. Isn't that a glorious site to be seen? The formula is just as lovely as Coppers'. Two smooth thin coats gives you all the coverage in the world.

Not another red reminds me OPI's Ruby and Reflection. Although a lot more blingy.

If any New Zealanders want to get their hands on a bottle or two of the Glitter Gal range, head over to polishqueennz on TradeMe! She is the distributor for New Zealand and super friendly and lovely!

If the price is stopping you buying one, check out my post where I compare a range of polishes and their cost per ml. Glitter Gal says that they use the most expensive holographic particles in their polishes. Seriously, these holos do not disappoint!

Glitter Gal Copper

Here is the full review of Glitter Gal's Copper!

With these Glitter Gal reviews, I have included a quick video at the end to show how they sparkle. A still photo just doesn't show it the same!

This is two thin coats here. Usually with holographic polishes this thin, when I go to do another coat the brush usually starts pulling the bottom layer and creating bald patches. I was preparing myself to deal with this when wearing Copper, but it wasn't even an issue! These two coats just glided on.

Copper is more blingy than Not Another Red. I thought for sure that Copper was my favourite because of this, but it's a tough choice. Not Another Red is a bright bold red.

Nail Polish Size vs. Cost per ml : An interesting find!

Not Another Red $16
This post was made in regards to people being a little bit scared of Glitter Gals because they are smaller than the average polish, but keep reading and you will be amazed!

Prices listed in this blog is New Zealand pricing.

Ok so Glitter Gals cost around $16 so the cost per ml is $1.77.

Essie Marshmellow $25
Essies are your average size 15 ml, the cost per ml for them is $1.66.

Zoya Zarbo $22
Zoyas are a little bit smaller at 14ml, the cost per ml is $1.46.

OPI $26 (seem to vary from 25-27)
OPIs are your standard 15ml and the price per ml is $1.73.

Milky Base Coat $16.50 (seem to vary from 15-18)
Color Clubs are 15ml too, their cost per ml is $1.10.

Sally Hansen Treatments $26
Sally Hansens are a little smaller at 13.3ml, their cost per ml is 1.95.

OPI Minis $10.50
I averaged OPI Minis to be $10.50 as they are usually only available in 4pc mini packs that retail for $42.  These look to be the same size as Glitter Gal's, but you could fit 2.4 mini OPIs into one Glitter Gal. OPI Minis are a tiny 3.75ml, their cost per ml is $2.80. If you ever have the want to waste your money, buy one of these OPI mini packs, guaranteed money wastage.

Sally Hansen Nail Prisms $??
I was at a bit of a loss as to what price to base these polishes on. I've only ever picked them up cheap, never bought in store. Sally Hansen Nail Prisms are 8.8ml. Smaller than a Glitter Gal!

Here they are all lined up in smallest to biggest.

I went up to my Dad just before asking if he could explain how the Prism was larger than the Glitter Gal. He thought it might be really thick glass in the Prism bottle.

I feel quite comfortable with Glitter Gal's sizing now compared to all of the others. The cost per ml is quite close to the big sellers here; OPI and Essie.

While I was recording all of this, some ants decided to come out and check out what was happening. I love when little nature friends come out to have a look!

But even a passing by ant wanted to show his disgust.

Glitter Gal Not Another Red and Copper!

I just received these in the mail and had to show you right away! These are Glitter Gal's Not Another Red and Copper holographic polishes.

How did I not know how blingy these Glitter Gal polishes are?! As soon as I pulled them out of the packet, I ran to my sister (a holo fanatic) to show her, she loved them, ran to my mum (another holo fanatic), she loved them too! I was running all over the house to see them in different lighting.

Not Another Red
After ten minutes of swirling these around under every light source in the house, I thought I better set up a mini studio and take some shots! These were taken at night time, I will take daylight photos tomorrow.

Not Another Red
Not Another Red reminds me of OPI's Reflection or Ruby a wee bit, but of course 100x the bling.

OPI Reflection
That top 'Vintage' is supposed to read Couture.
Then we move onto Copper!

Copper
This is my favourite of the two. It has a rose gold feel to it.

Copper
Copper seems to be even more holo than Not Another Red. I think Not Another Red has more coloured pigment in it or something that's ever so slightly blocking the bling.

OPI DS Couture
Copper reminded me of a mix between OPI Couture and OPI Bay Bridge Sunset.

OPI Bay Bridge Sunset
But of course a million times more sparkly!

I did a quick swatch of the two. Seems pretty accurate to me under the artificial lighting, although I'd say that Copper is a little more golden than what's shown here.

I will do a review on each of these shades very shortly.

If Kiwis are interested in buying Glitter Gal polishes, they can do so from this lovely seller on TradeMe; polishqueennz

Bootie Babe is looking for a distributor for NZ!

Like the title says, Bootie Babe needs a distributor for New Zealand! Bootie Babe is looking for sales reps in every country to locate and sell to online and retail store distributors (commission only at this time). Experience preferred but not required.

If you are interested or want to ask any questions, you can email info@bootiebabe.com or leave a question here, I know Mark will read it :)

OPI Sit Under The Apple Tree

Today I have to show you OPI's Sit Under The Apple Tree from the Retro Fun In The Sun collection 2008.

This is one of my first OPI's that I ever had. I absolutely love how it looks in the bottle. The nails, not so much. It loses a lot of it's green base and looks very gold and yellow. I am going to try this over a couple of polishes to try and make it more bold looking.

The golden shimmer/frost is really pretty in the sunlight.

It even glows when it's not in the sunlight.

I'm wearing three coats in these photos. It's one of OPI's older formulas that was quite thick but applied thin and sheer... Very strange and a little bit hard to control. I have a feeling the rest of the collection was like this, from what I remember.

China Glaze Dress to Kill

Good morning! Today I have to show you China Glaze's Dress to Kill. I don't know all that much about it other than it was released in the collection called Crème Couture around 2004. I picked this one up at the Beauty Expo earlier this year for a few dollars I think.

I'm really happy with it! I love the name. It's one of those empowering names I reckon. Like when you get all dressed up really nice and you know you look good and confidence just radiates from you.

Dress to Kill is a bright blue toned red. Really good coverage, only two coats needed. The formula seems to have a thinner consistency compared to China Glazes these days, but it just flows on effortlessly. Two coats here.

I have tried to use it as a jelly, but it's one of those polishes that's half way between a jelly and a creme. It didn't really work out well in a jelly manicure. Perfect for a base or on it's own though.

Three coats.
Left to right: NFUOh 59, 46, 49
Awhile ago I used Dress to Kill as my red base for a few NFUOh polishes. Here's a link to the post: http://nailjuice.blogspot.com/2011/07/swatch-of-nfuoh-59-46-49-53.html
