OPI Suede Collection 2009

Hey guys! Here are the OPI Suede polishes on a display thing :D

Enjoy!

On the left we have Russian Navy Suede, Ink Suede, Lincoln Park After Dark Suede, We'll Always Have Paris Suede, You Don't Know Jacques! Suede, Suzi Skis In the Pyrenees Suede.

Overall the formula is really good for matte polishes. A little less shrinking with these ones I found compared to the Mattes OPI released earlier this year.

I loved every single shade when I first saw them and I loved them even more in real life :) The finish is so different to everything else and they're crazy sparkly with top coat.

Although I have a feeling Zoya's Loredana may be similar to Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees Suede. There is also Zoya's new matte Harlow which is quite close to We'll always have Paris Suede.

How To: Depot Lipstick or Balm

So my lippie Blow Dry was giving me a little trouble, it was quite mushy and scraping on the edges of the container... So I decided to depot it!

And then I got a little carried away...

How do you depot a lipstick you ask? Easy peasy!

YOU WILL NEED:
  • Oil Burner OR Candle
  • Lighter
  • Big Spoon
  • Small Container
STEPS:
  1. Slice the lipstick up into smallish slices on to the spoon. This will help it melt faster.
  2. Light the candle and hold the spoon over the candle. It can take a few minutes - depends on the lippy. Don't hold it right over the flame so it boils!
  3. Once it is all liquid, pour it straight into your container or lip palette and let it set. It doesn't take that long.
  4. You're done!
I did a couple of other colours too because having so many different lipsticks in my kit makes it tricky to see all of the colours to judge whats best for the client. Mum and I only picked up a few pots today but I think we will be getting a few more.

Becoming a Make-Up Artist: Glamour Make-Up One

My sister so kindly let me practice Glamour make-up on her as I have an assessment coming up really soon.

This is what we learned as 'Glamour One', strong eyes and nude lips. Next up will be 'Glamour Two' which is strong lips and nude eyes, followed by 'Glamour Three' which is strong lips and strong eyes.

The colours I have had no names! It was just a generic shimmering white, silver and black that was used.

PRODUCTS USED:
  1. Soft Ochre Paint Pot (MAC)
  2. Black Track Fluidline (MAC)
I was quite proud of myself! I know I will probably look at it later down the track and wonedr what the hell I was doing... But I had fun and was pleased with it :)

OPI DS Mystery

I'm really sorry NJ has been more make-up lately but it's my passion at the moment and I don't have the time to take many nail photos at the moment. But! Christmas break is coming up really soon and summer is almost here so should be heaps of time to take photos :D

Here is one of OPI's new Designer Series polishes, Mystery.

Mystery is really beautiful! On the first coat it is very purple and it's a shame that purple-ness gets taken away by the second coat.

I guess you could do one coat over a purple?

The formula was a little runny but it is easy to forgive with all those lovely gold glitters!

You may have to enlarge these pics :D

MAC DazzleGlass Creme : Do it Up

MAC's Do It Up reminds me of Essie's Cute As A Button but on your lips!

A very cute colour with amazing sparkles.

Again like the others, staying power is great until you eat.

Did you cave for any of the DazzleGlass cremes?

MAC DazzleGlass Creme : Totally Fab

MAC's Totally Fab was a red I actually liked on my lips.

It applies really nicely, I thought the brush was a little tricky at first but i've never used one of these before.

It stays on perfectly all day until you eat or drink. They aren't sticky either which is quite nice but hairs still manage to get stuck in it.

MAC DazzleGlass Creme : Perfectly Unordinary

I thought I would start these off with the one I chose, Perfectly Unordinary.

Perfectly Unordinary is a cute peach gloss with golden glitter.

The DazzleGlass Cremes are quite opaque, they don't leave you with a hint of colour and a whole heap of disappointing sparkles.

I went to go and pick up the other pink one today, but that had sold out :( Why doesn't MAC get much stock here? That's ok though, this one is amazing :)

This is my first time trying MAC's DazzleGlasses. I am really impressed, it stayed on until it was time to eat. Usually some dry out your lips or your hair gets so stuck in it you usually get most of it in your hair and not on the lips! Not Perfectly Unordinary though. She was good to me, moisterised, glossed and made my lips look really nice.

I'd give it a 4/5, the only negative being the price tag. $48 if I remember correctly. But then again I've had Posh it Up for over a year now and its almost at the half way point and i've worn that truckloads and it is in a much smaller tube compared to Perfectly Unordinary.

Becoming a Make-Up Artist : Mums the Artist!

This time Mum was the artist!

She started with the MAC Paint Pot Soft Ochre, scribbled over with the blue grease paint stick, then applied MAC's mineralized eyeshadow in Guilt By Association.

Mum then used DreamMaker as a highlighter in the inner corner of my eye and below my brow.

The colours go so well don't they?

I was sad thinking it would crease in a few ours... but it lasted all day and night!

I have fallen in love with Guilt By Association. It even makes the yellow around my eyes nice, like its supposed to be there.

Eyelash Tinting

I have always been so scared to tint my eyelashes! But then we had to in class... so it was good in a way.

I really like the result. As a lot of people, their lashes turn brown or blonde on the very ends which makes the lashes look shorter. And obviously tinting makes the ends visable creating the illusion of longer lashes.

Why was I so scared? I had heard bad stories of how it stung their eyes and things like that. So throughout the whole session with someone whos never done this before I was so careful not to blink or open my eyes but I did a couple of times when she was trying to put the other cotton pad under the other eyelashes... Scary stuff!

But when it came around to my turn to be doing the doing, she didn't get stung and neither did my partner.

Evening Make-Up : Eyes

Here we are with our first eye post!

We recently were learning Evening Make-Up and this is what my partner gave me.

I was a bit afraid at first because I never wear eyeshadow and to wear this during the day was quite scary.

Also because of my oily lids I was freaking that there would be major creasing but amazingly there wasn't any! :D

She used two MAC shades, the navy and the turquoise but the lighter colour is something we get in our kit. What do you think?

My First Time with Eyeshadows!

This is the first ever time i've worn eyeshadow so please be gentle!

While I was thinking about what designs and colours I could do in the shower, I saw a minty towel hanging next to a pink towel and I really liked that colour scheme.

So I started with my paint pot Soft Ochre. I loved to use this as a sort of concealer around the eyes too as well as a base.

Then I chose to use Yogurt all over the lid. Followed by Aqua on the outer corner and a little bit under the lower lashes. I then used Haunting on the very outer corner to make Aqua a little deeper.

I was unsure about it at first as it made my eyelids seem really light. I am used to seeing them darkish yellow so it was quite different :) But after going shopping and coming back home to see no creasing or movement what so ever made me extremely happy inside.

These photos were taken in the late afternoon. My sister told me it reminded her of ice cream. Which I might go and get now....
