This was a super cute gradient I did awhile back! Colours used were Misa Pinky Promise and Makeup Store's Young. The method I used to create this gradient was to use a sponge. I painted a strip of each colour on the sponge and then dabbed it along the edge of my nails to blend them together.

Nail Art: The Hunger Games
Today I have a manicure to show you that is inspired by the book trilogy, Hunger Games. I think the first movie has just come out or is about to come out. I'm all booked to go and see it a day before my birthday!
For this gradient I used two lovely Misa's called Under My Sunbrella and Endless Keys. These guys were released last year in Misa's summer collection Paradise Shore.
To create this manicure I started with a coat of yellow followed by orange just dabbed on the tips. The formula of these two polishes made it very easy to blend.
These polishes are quite sheer though. This is a huge benefit when doing manicures like this though! I kept adding layers in the order of yellow/orange/yellow/orange. Only painting the yellow half way down the nail though and slowly bringing the orange up on each coat.
This is how I envisioned Katniss's nails and dress to look when she entered the Hunger Games.
Can't wait for the movie! :D

Gradient Tutorial Revisited!
To commemorate Nail Juice's most popular post over 3 years, the Gradient Tutorial, I thought it was time to update it :D
I will try to have something up by this weekend, so keep a look out!
Far out, look at those talons!

Gradient Tutorial! Zoya Morgan and Starla
Ok, here is my first tutorial! Firstly apply your base coat. I used Nailtek's Foundation II here, it dries matte. Then you need to get a creme or jelly polish. I used Zoya's Morgan. Then you need to find a sheer sparkly/glittery/shimmer polish that builds up a colour when layered. I chose Zoya's Starla.
This tutorial will be on my thumb :D
1. Get your creme polish (Morgan) and free hand it on your tip as if you were doing a french manicure. If you don't feel confident doing this you can always use the french guides, but it doesn't matter if you make a mistake as it will be covered anyway :)
2. Get your sheer (Starla) and brush over your whole nail or 90% of the way.
3. Do another coat of your sheer only 75% up your nail.
4. Another coat of your chosen sheer, this time only going up 50% of your nail.
5. Do another very small coat of your sheer this time only going up 25% of your nail from the tip. It's like painting your nails backwards so it may take some practice :)
You are all done now! Add your top coat and you're set. Easy huh?
My First Gradient!
I attempted my very first gradient manicure today, and I am very pleased with the results!
The colours used in this manicure are Zoya's Morgan and Starla. Morgan was used to colour my tips and Starla was used for the graduation :D
Doing this has got my creative juices flowing, I want to try two colours, Christmas manis, reversing the gradient. The possibilities are endless!
