Misa Precious Moments Spring Collection 2012

Precious Moments was love at first sight.
Jelly, nude, mauve, minty blue AND a possible Essie Neo-Whimsical dupe?!

Bed Of Roses
What a happy looking nail polish! Bed of Roses reminds me of lip gloss or popsicles, so summery and juicy looking! The first swatch is with two coats and the second having three coats.

 Sweet Thing
I cannot tell you how long I have been searching for a pale lavender or mauve nail polish. I've been through Essie's Lilacism and Nice is Nice, but they both missed the mark. Sweet Thing is everything I have been after.

 Little Hands
My camera decided that it wouldn't photograph Little Hands in all her glory. It most definitely isn't this chalky looking. It's like... a slightly neon hybrid cross of Essie Mint Candy Apple and China Glaze For Audrey. The bottom photo is what it looks like, but in the sun... If you get what I mean... Little Hands is not a colour to be ignored.

Someone Like You
I always have a soft spot for nudes. Someone Like You is a red toned nude and is very flattering on different skin tones. It reminds me of OPI's Miso Happy and Let Them Eat Rice Cake. Very subtle, chic and work appropriate.

Pinky Promise
It's really hard to choose a favourite from this collection but I think Pinky Promise may be it. I just love milky pinks. I have a comparison between Pinky Promise and Essie's Neo Whimsical that I will be posting shortly.

Note: There was another polish in this collection called Deep Breath that I didn't get. Deep Breath looks to be a light neutral grey creme.

Precious Moments - Overall Thoughts

Formula: this collection was great. They all have that nice thickness, not too thin but not too gluggy either. The polishes give a lot of coverage in minimal coats. The only one that needed more than two was Bed Of Roses, but you can keep layering on the coats til the cows come home with that one. I really had forgotten how lovely Misa polishes are.

Colours: Precious Moments definitely sings Spring but I love the unusual choices of Little Hands and Bed Of Roses. They stop the collection from just being a Spring pastel palette. Which wouldn't even be that bad because I am over the moon with them all anyway. My Mum and Sister have all tried these on too and (they are lighter and darker, redder than me) the colours looked just as pretty and feminine on them.

These are available now and you can buy them from Misa's website, TransDesign, and Head2Toe Beauty.

Essie Neo-Whimsical

I finally found it! The perfect baby pink. It's not bubblegum, it's not lavender, but right smack bang in the middle. But there's a catch...

Neo-Whimsical has one of the worst formulas I have ever come across. Why do you do this Essie? Are you happy to release a polish this bad and have your name on it?

This is three coats here and in places you can see streaks and slight bald patches. I've tried a variety of different bases but nothing seems to help. I absolutely adore the colour and love it to pieces when I wear it, but it chips within the same day.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've had Mod About You, Pandamonium Pink and a few others but most are too chalky or too yellow.

Color Club Pucci-licious

I was most excited to try Pucci  out of the set. It is quite a unique colour even though it seems like a basic one. It does remind me of a purple BYS polish I had sometime ago though and never wore it because it smelt awful... So Pucci makes a good replacement :D

The colour shown in my photo here I feel is definitely not purple enough, well warm enough. I was using my sisters camera for this shot so when I get back I'll give my camera a go :)
Pucci-licious was a bit streaky on the first coat but I don't think that you need a ridge filler to help because it is a slightly thicker formula, so it evens itself out on coat number 2. I reckon you only need 2 coats to get full coverage.

Pucci-licious is a cream like Twiggie and Almost Famous, so you don't get that squishy jelly look like the others.

AVAILABLE EARLY SEPTEMBER IN THE 'POPTASTIC' COLLECTION WHICH WILL BE REPLACING THE CURRENT NEONS

Pretty Floral

How are we doing today? :)

I saw a design like this somewhere recently. For the life of me I can't remember >_< (Please let me know if it was you so I can give you credit! :) )

Well once I saw the design, I fell in love with it and tried it this morning. As pictured, I used Seasonal Peach for flowers, I'm Ok You're Bouquet for flowers, Done Out In Deco for flowers, Gumdrop for the base colour, Peppermint Patti for the lighter leaves, Jade Is The New Black for the darker leaves and Oooh La La for the white part of the flowers.

I didn't practise beforehand so I was hoping my colour choices would work out well together and I was pleased with the result :)

STEPS:
  1. Paint your nails your chosen base colour.
  2. Dab the corner of the brush onto your nail for the flower. Use a couple of colours and mix them up a bit.
  3. Get your lighter green and make sure you wipe almost all of the polish off of your brush and apply your brush straight down onto your nail. So its like a 90 degree angle between the brush and your nail.
  4. Do the same with the darker green.
  5. With your dotting tool/toothpick/small paint brush apply the white in a small short spiral :)
  6. Apply topcoat!

Orly Sweet 2010: Lollipop

Hi again :)

Tonight I have Orly's Lollipop to show you.

I was so excited to see this in-store! I purchased the mini Sweet pack which contains a mini of Lollipop, Gumdrop and Lemonade as well as a Top 2 Bottom, which is like a base coat and top coat all in one.

The chemist must have also had the larger sized bottles at some point because there was a full size Pixy Stix (mum got that one :P). Also for my fellow kiwis, Life Pharmacy is having a sale on Orlys at the moment, 2 for 1. Great deal :D

Also a little more exciting news before the review, Essie has hit New Zealand! They are said to be in chemists and Farmers stores. I purchased mine from Life Pharmacy and got a free treatment like top coat or base coat with every 2 polishes bought. The latest collection we have is last years Winter collection with Mink Muffs, Angora Cardi, Chinchilly and the navy and neons.

Ok back to Lollipop!

The formula was a little streaky on the first coat, but evened out fine on the second. I felt it needed three coats to look finished though.

It dried fairly quickly and I have worn it for almost three days now and not a single chip or peel!

Stay tuned for the other Sweet Orlys as well as Essie's Chinchilly and Mink Muffs.

OPI Done Out In Deco

Today I thought I would show you OPI Done Out In Deco. When it first came out I didn't really like it all that much, but after loving it on my sister so much I just had to try it again.

I do quite like Done Out In Deco the second time round. Isn't it funny how that happens? Hate a colour then later on love it?

Done Out In Deco came out at the start of 2009 in the South Beach collection. I have posted a few colours from that collection so make sure you do a little search on NJ if you are interested :)

I only needed two coats from Deco to get full coverage. The formula is alright, not quite as amazing as the Hong Kong collection but definitely not bad at all.

Also on I guess a sadder note, i'm not too sure how much longer Nail Juice will keep going. It has been so much fun but there are a few issues in life at the moment that are just taking the time, fun and excitement out of it.
We'll see how it goes :)

OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender

Lucky Lucky Lavender is a beautiful pink with those cool lilac undertones. So loving this kind of colour at the moment.

I really wasn't blown away at it in the stand, but got it anyway. Wasn't amazed by it when I first tried it on either, but after wearing it for a full mani, I loved it. Still do. May wear this again tonight :)

I used just two coats here. The formula once again is impeccable. Not a single thing wrong with it!

This colour reminds me very much of CND Grapeade I had a little while ago, but I gave over 30 polishes to my classmates and tutor. My tutor got Grapeade and has worn it for two weeks straight on her tips and toes! :D I am so glad it was able to get that kind of love from someone else instead of sitting in my lounge.

Lucky Lucky Lavender also reminded me of OPI's Don't Think, Just Pink. But comparing them, Just Pink is a lot more red-er than Lucky.

What do you think?

NFU-Oh 012

Hmm I was so excited to find this in person, but I don't think it looks too flattering on my skin tone.

I used 3 coats here.

I found the formula too be a little on the thick side which made it a little hard to use seeing as it is sheer. It doesn't have a jelly quality to it. So it just looks a bit funny with a whole heap of colour yet you can still see the tips.

I think I will take it home next week and add some thinner to it.

I do like the colour of 012. I would call it a very blue baby pink. It's is that category where it could be pink or purple.

Hmm maybe I will try some ridge filler underneath next time.

Zoya Malia

I wasn't too fussed on Malia when it was first released, but when I was setting it up at the Beauty Expo it just looked really amazing. I know it has no shimmers or glimmers but cremes can look fantastic too :D

All it takes for Malia to be opaque is two coats.

I much prefer Malia over OPI Do You Lilac It or OPI Done Out In Deco. I think Malia is the best shade out of those to suit my skin.
